SYSTEM TROUBLESHOOTING

DON'T SWAP THE INJECTOR JUST YET.

When chemical stops pulling in the middle of a job, swapping your injector is sometimes an unnecessary expense. Downstream injection requires a balanced system approach where pressure differential, hoses, gun and nozzle function as a single unit.

Stainless steel downstream chemical injector hardware.

THE SYSTEM APPROACH

A downstream injector relies on the Venturi effect: water velocity creates low pressure to draw chemical. If backpressure increases anywhere downstream, chemical draw immediately stops.

01

Verify Flow Direction

Check the directional arrow stamped on the brass or stainless body. Installing an injector backwards is the most frequent cause of total failure during field maintenance.

02

Inspect Chemical Hose & Filter

Hairline cracks in the suction tube or bulkhead introduce air leaks that break the siphon. Remove the drop filter from your chemical tank and inspect for clogs.

03

Match Your Nozzle Orifice

Your downstream injector only draws when line pressure drops below the head pressure. Ensure your nozzle orifice at the end of your gun is large enough (such as #30 to #40) to drop backpressure.

04

Check Hose Length & Gun Restrictions

Running more than 200 feet of high-pressure hose or using cheap hoses with restrictive quick-connect fittings creates excessive friction loss, preventing the injector from creating a vacuum. If you are using an old gun that may have build up internally and restrcts flow may be adding line pressure.

05

Examine Check Ball & Spring Wear

Harsh chemicals such as sodium hypochlorite degrade internal ceramic or stainless ball and spring over time. If chemical backflows into your line, service the rebuild kit.
